12 Steps to Better Health
Have you promised yourself some healthy
changes for the New Year, but don’t know where to start? Often we find that once
we set goals, we are not sure what to do next.
We often reach specific goals by practicing
several steps, or skills. Think about a hobby you enjoy. Now think about the
many skills you had to learn to do that hobby.
Making healthy habit changes work the same.
First you need to figure out the steps to make the change. Then, make a plan.
Finally, practice the healthy behavior. For instance, start to cook healthy and
watch portion sizes. Or maybe add 10 more minutes of physical activity to your
daily routine. Perfect the skills to help maintain the new healthy habits.
The 12 Steps to Better Health program
provides you with one nutrition skill and one physical activity concept to focus
on per month. If you practice each monthly step, it will help you add healthy
habits in your life. There will be weekly recipes or tips to correspond with the
month’s nutrition step.
So choose a skill and practice it during the month. Also, remember to check in
weekly for new tips and recipes. Before you know it, you will have formed new
healthy habits with little effort!
